About Online Associate Degrees

An Associate degree is a degree that can be earned in two years to four years of study. In some instances, under intense study, an associate degree can be obtained in less than two years, depending on the university offering the program. Sometimes a lender will give students experience or special qualifications: such qualifications are usually assessed by specific testing. The test, known as CLEP or the College Level Examination Program allows students to demonstrate their skills and earn credits toward an Associate Degree.

 The high school has a number of subcategories that define it. There is an Associate in Arts, an Associate of Science Degree, an Associate of Applied Science, an Associate Degree of Occupational Studies, an Associate Degree in Business Administration, an Associate Degree in Arts and Teaching, and an Associate Degree in Individual Studies , also known as Bachelor of General Studies. Each grade is defined by the course requirements that must be filled so that the degree is obtained by the student. Generally, unless otherwise defined by the education institution, the student must complete 60 credit hours to obtain an Associate Degree.

 Credits earned for an Online Associate Degrees are often transferable toward a Bachelor's Degree. If the institution where the Associate Degree was obtained does not offer a degree program the student can then transfer credits earned to another. Many students pursuing an Associate Degree to continue in the undergraduate degree, and in some cases, a Masters and a PhD. Basically, the Associate Degree is the first of several degrees a student can earn in college.
